Jev, the AI that picks instead of writes: what it’s good for, and the catch

October 17, 2026 By Troj

Most AI writes. Jev, a new model from TypeSafe AI, only decides, and it does it in about a tenth of a second for a fraction of a cent. Here’s what that’s good for, what independent tests found, and why “can’t hallucinate” doesn’t mean “can’t be wrong”.

A Postman desktop update reportedly added Postman plugins to some people's Claude Code and Codex setups without asking, plus a script that runs at the start of every session. On Codex, the installer even approved that script itself. Nobody has shown any data leaving anyone's computer, but it's a good reason to check what your own agent is running.

Update: on 5 November Postman said "we are reverting this change" and will redesign it "with the right level of control." If you already got the plugins, the revert may not remove them, so check anyway.

The two-minute check:

Claude Code: run "claude plugin list" in a terminal. Codex: type /plugins.
In either one, type /hooks and look for anything you didn't add.
Mac or Linux: grep -il postman ~/.claude/settings.json ~/.claude/plugins/installed_plugins.json ~/.codex/config.toml

Facts checked 2026-11-06. Claude Code helps run our studio, so we're not neutral here.

AI models keep getting cheaper and AI coding tools keep getting more access to your computer. So what can you actually trust, and what do you still need to know how to do yourself?

This week we cover Mistral Large 4, a big open-weight model, and what "open weights" means if you'll never run it at home. We look at the tampered Claude Code extension that Cursor's marketplace served for about 11 hours on 29 October, and how to check whether it touched your machine.

Plus Codex now remembers you by default, a proper look at Herdr (a free, brand-new app for keeping an eye on several coding agents at once), and what happened when we pointed six AI security reviewers at the same broken app.

Claude can now turn your data into a dashboard and your idea into a short animated video. Here's where to find both in the Claude app, how to upload a CSV for a quick dashboard snapshot, and how to plug in a connector for one that stays up to date.

Heads up: Dashboards needs a paid plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). Motion is Team and Enterprise only for now. Both are in beta.
